6 Degrees of the Acre

Thursday June 22 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the former Saint Jean Baptiste Church at 741 Merrimack St. Join us to celebrate Coalition for a Better Acre's 35 years of work in the Acre and help us increase our impact in the future! Have a glass of wine, enjoy hors d'oeuvres from several of the Acre's fantastic ethnic restaurants, take a chance at winning a raffle basket of goodies, and enjoy exhibits showcasing the Acre, the first-stop neighborhood for many of Lowell's immigrant groups going back to the Irish who came to dig the canals that built the city.

UMass Lowell Distinguished University Professor Robert Forrant's students have been working on an impressive exhibit about the history of the Acre and CBA and photographer/videographer Tory Germann's 6 Degrees of the Acre video series will be available on viewing stations throughout the venue. We know you are invited to a lot of events, so we are keeping ours short - but are encouraging the party to spill into the downtown at 7:30. We are partnering with several downtown restaurants who will offer special discounts for 6 Degrees attendees after the event as a way to support those businesses and make the night even more memorable.
